A meeting was held today at the Adamawa State Banquet Hall, where several important issues were discussed with His Excellency, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
Among the key matters deliberated was the issue of possible consensus arrangements among aspirants contesting for the House of Representatives positions across the 21 local government areas of Adamawa State. Those who purchased nomination and expression of interest forms were all in attendance.
The meeting would have been more productive and encouraging if the Governor’s directives are fully respected and properly implemented. Since His Excellency prefers consensus arrangements over direct primaries, it is important that fairness, loyalty, and previous commitments are carefully considered in selecting consensus candidates.
It is important to remind His Excellency of some of the promises made during the 2023 elections, particularly regarding Hon. Ginawula Sule Tekile, who contested for the position of Member Representing Guyuk/Shelleng Federal Constituency. At the time, Hon. Tekile was persuaded to step down in support of Hon. Kobis for the overall success and unity of the party.
Hon. Tekile agreed to step aside based on the understanding that 2027 would be his opportunity. In fact, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri was among the first leaders who appealed to him to make that sacrifice in the interest of the party, and he honored that request loyally.
If loyalty and sacrifice truly matter in politics, then this is the time for His Excellency Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri to stand by Hon. Tekile and support the return of his mandate by ensuring he emerges as the consensus candidate for the Guyuk/Shelleng House of Representatives seat ahead of the 2027 elections.
The people of Guyuk/Shelleng are yearning for effective representation and purposeful leadership. Many believe that Hon. Tekile deserves the opportunity to serve and deliver quality representation to the constituency.
This is the right time for the Governor and the party leadership to correct past political miscalculations and give Hon. Ginawula Sule Tekile the chance to serve the people of Guyuk/Shelleng.
