On Sunday, 2 August 2026, the graduating SSS III students of Darul Arqam Islamic Institute, Yola, organized their end-of-year symposium within the school premises to mark the successful completion of their secondary education.
The event was attended by the Guest Speaker, Sheikh Abubakar Mukhtar of Yola; the Director of Darul Arqam Islamic Institute, Malam Adamu Ahmad Usman Wuro-Chekke; the Principal, Malam Ibraheem Adam Shelleng; the Vice Principal, Malam Salihu Abdullahi; Barrister Ishaqa; members of staff; students; and other distinguished guests.
The programme commenced with an address by the institute's Ameer and Head Boy, Malam Zurqarnaini, who welcomed the guests and expressed appreciation on behalf of the graduating students to their teachers for their dedication, guidance, and support throughout their academic journey.
One of the highlights of the event was the formal handover ceremony of the Muslim Students' Society of Nigeria (MSSN) leadership, during which the outgoing executives officially transferred responsibilities to the newly elected officials in the presence of teachers and invited guests.
A moving poem was presented by an SSS III student, Maryam Aminu Alkali, as a tribute to the graduating class. Her performance celebrated the achievements of the outgoing students and wished them success in their future endeavours.
The symposium was organized to prepare the graduating students for the realities and challenges of tertiary education as they transition to universities and other higher institutions.
In his lecture, Sheikh Abubakar Mukhtar advised the students to use social media responsibly, warning against its negative influence on character and personal development. Drawing lessons from the Qur'an and the Hadith, he also cautioned them against keeping bad company, stressing the importance of surrounding themselves with righteous and responsible friends.
The Director of the institute, Malam Adamu Ahmad Usman Wuro-Chekke, reinforced the Guest Speaker's message by emphasizing the dangers of bad companionship. He further encouraged the students to cultivate the habit of independent reading and lifelong learning as a foundation for academic and personal success.
Barrister Ishaqa also addressed the gathering, urging the students to avoid examination malpractice in higher institutions. Reflecting on his own university experience, he encouraged them to uphold honesty, discipline, and integrity in all their academic pursuits. He concluded by praying for and commending the teachers of Darul Arqam Islamic Institute for their unwavering commitment to nurturing and educating young minds.
The symposium concluded with a closing prayer led by Sheikh Abubakar Mukhtar of Yola, marking the end of a memorable and inspiring occasion for the graduating students.
