Today, 1st January 2016, marks the first day of the New Year in the Gregorian calendar. Nigerians across the country are celebrating the New Year as work activities are suspended and schools are closed in observance of the celebration.
Hon. Ginawula Sule Tekile returned to his hometown, Kiri, to celebrate the New Year. He was accompanied by his wife, children, and well-wishers.
A large number of people gathered to celebrate the New Year with the Garkuwan Kiri, as this has become his tradition. Hon. Tekile habitually brings people together to celebrate with him in an atmosphere of joy and merriment. He also does the same during Sallah celebrations, despite being a Christian by background.
Indeed, Hon. Tekile is the kind of leader society desires—a leader without discrimination, a leader who embraces everyone as his own, and a leader who remains close to his people in order to understand their challenges and support them accordingly.
We unanimously say thank you to Hon. Tekile for this noble gesture.
